Privacy Policy
ONYX & SONS · Home & Commercial Window Tinting · Effective September 10, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how ONYX & SONS ("Onyx," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you request information about residential or commercial window tinting, book an in-home assessment, or otherwise communicate with us by phone, email, or text message. It applies to quote.onyxwindowtint.com and the window tinting services we provide across Northern California.
1. Information We Collect
We collect only what we need in order to answer your enquiry and, if you choose to proceed, to quote and install window film at your property:
- Contact details you give us on a form or by phone — your name, email address, mobile number, and the city or address of the property.
- Details about your project — what you want the film to do (privacy, heat, glare, UV), the type of home, approximate number of windows, and any notes you share about the property.
- Consent records — whether you asked for a call back, and whether you checked either text messaging consent box, together with the date and time.
- Basic technical data — pages visited on our site, device and browser type, and the advertising or referral source that brought you to us.
We do not collect payment card details through this website. We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information, and you should not send us any.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To respond to your enquiry about window tinting and send the information you asked for.
- To prepare a quote, schedule an in-home assessment, and coordinate installation.
- To contact you by phone, email, or text message about your enquiry, in line with the preferences you selected.
- To send marketing about window tinting, only where you separately opted in to receive it.
- To measure which advertising brings genuine enquiries, and to improve our website.
- To keep records we are required to keep, and to resolve disputes.
If you tell us you do not want a representative to contact you, we record that choice and honour it.
3. Text Messaging (SMS) & Consent
SMS program description. When you provide your mobile number and opt in, ONYX & SONS may send you text messages about window tinting. There are two separate programs, and each requires its own separate consent:
- Informational / transactional messages — responses to your window tinting enquiry, quote details, scheduling and reminders for your in-home assessment, and installation coordination.
- Marketing and promotional messages — seasonal offers, promotions and updates relating to window film.
How consent is collected. Consent is collected on the same web form that collects your mobile number, using two separate checkboxes. Neither box is checked by default and neither is required in order to submit the form. You may consent to either program, both, or neither. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of any purchase or service.
No sharing of mobile opt-in data. Mobile information and SMS consent will not be shared with or sold to third parties or affiliates for their own marketing purposes under any circumstances. This information is shared only with the service providers who deliver messages on our behalf, such as our messaging platform, and only for that purpose.
Opting out. Reply STOP to any message to unsubscribe from that program. Reply HELP for assistance, or call 1-877-893-2338.
Frequency and rates. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.
Our text messaging programs are intended for individuals 18 years of age or older. Full program terms, including carrier liability and supported carriers, are set out in our Terms & Conditions.
4. Cookies & Tracking Technologies
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies, including pixels and tags placed by advertising platforms such as Meta and Google, to:
- Keep the site working — remember your progress through a form and keep your session active. These are strictly necessary.
- Measure performance — understand which pages are visited and where visitors come from, so we can improve the site.
- Measure advertising — record that an enquiry came from a particular ad or campaign, and report conversions back to the advertising platform.
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, and most browsers let you refuse them entirely. Strictly necessary cookies cannot be switched off without affecting how the site works. You can also opt out of interest-based advertising through the settings offered by Meta and Google, or through the Digital Advertising Alliance at optout.aboutads.info. We honour Global Privacy Control signals where your browser sends them.
We do not use cookies or tracking technologies to collect or share mobile opt-in data. See section 3 above.
5. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as follows:
- Service providers who operate our website, customer records, email and messaging, and scheduling, under agreements that limit them to acting on our instructions.
- Installers and staff assigned to your assessment or installation, who need your address and project details to do the work.
- Advertising platforms, in aggregated or hashed form, to measure advertising performance. Mobile opt-in data is never included.
- Where the law requires it, or to establish or defend legal claims.
6. Data Retention & Security
We keep enquiry records for as long as needed to answer you and, where work proceeds, for the life of the installation and its warranty, plus any period required for tax and legal purposes. Records of your text messaging consent and any opt-out are kept for as long as required to demonstrate compliance. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect your information, but no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.
7. Your Choices & Rights
- Text messages — reply STOP to any message, for either program separately.
- Marketing email — use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email.
- Phone calls — tell us and we will record that you do not want to be called.
- Access, correction and deletion — California residents may request access to, correction of, or deletion of their personal information, and may ask us not to sell or share it. We do not sell personal information. Contact us using the details below and we will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
8. Children's Privacy
Our services and our text messaging programs are intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date above shows when it was last revised, and any change takes effect when posted on this page.
